Madison Cawthorn wants to destroy Social Security to 'incentivize' the elderly to work

Madison Cawthorn unveils his 'Contract with America' that destroys social security to 'incentivize' elderly to work

U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) has revealed his “New Contract with America” that’s designed to destroy Social Security, one of the most successful and life-saving programs in U.S. history, to “incentivize” the elderly to return to work.

That’s just one aspect of what Cawthorn describes as a 10-point plan that reads like a far right-wing dream from capitalist kingpins to return America to the days of child labor, seven-day work weeks, and no retirement for senior citizens. But it does call for the federal government to “promote and celebrate the American manufacturing and agriculture industry by incentivizing domestic production,” despite the US economy being so on fire the Federal Reserve is poised to dramatically raise interest rates to cool off spending and so-called “inflation.”

Snip

It includes “slashing government spending by a third by 2031; enacting a balanced budget amendment; and abolishing the income tax and finding a replacement flat tax or consumption tax by 2026,” Fox News adds.

“The contract also calls for abolishing the Department of Education, making English the official language of the United States, banning federal funding for critical race theory teachings, and enacting school choice on the federal level so federal dollars follow the students to their school of choice, including private religious schools.”

The same pay as a Marine grunt, a barracks with bed, kitchen and dining room, 2 sets of uniforms, free buses from barracks to Capital Hill, an infirmary -- you get the idea.

Work 8 hours per day when present and working, 5 days a week and more when the job is not finished.

No retirement pension, no Social Security.

Round trip home airplane ticket, once per year.

Right now, I know people are blinded by inflation, but workers are seeing the biggest gains in modern history. It's driving Republicans crazy to see working people finally get a raise. And they see labor shortages a a huge problem that is driving it. So anything to force more people to work is good with them, right on down the line. They want to gut social security to force the retired back into the work force. Dems efforts to lower the age for Medicare would allow millions to retire earlier, Republicans cannot risk that so they fight it.

Labor shortages are amazing, keep them up and fix the supply chain issues to get inflation back under control and we're on the verge of the rebirth of the American Middle Class. Republicans will do everything in their power to stop that.

Thu Feb 24, 2022, 10:18 AM
Feb 2022

There was a time perhaps in the late 1990's or early 2000's when we were told to make sure we had three things to have retirement security.

1. Employment retirement fund
2. Personal savings
3. Social Security

Well, too many employers have taken the employees retirement fund, or the Equity Investment Company has taken it all.

What personal saving? Our minimum wage has not risen in decades. If entry level jobs are stagnant so are raises and wages when you get a promotion.

Social Security has been under attack forever.

Where is that three legged stool now?

And then those lazy elderly people who walk so slowly like they have all day, worked all their life and now want a free ride. Those oldsters dying from COVID left and right, just trying to get out of work. Put them out to greet Walmart customers if nothing else. Then if they die from COVID, who cares we get to keep their Social Security. How Dare those lazy old people, that no one will hire because they're old, think the deserve a few years of retirement when the filthy rich haven't taken away every thing from them yet.

I think the big issue is how could SS be ended? The only way it could be done would be to draw a line in the sand for those who have yet to be born, say 2030.

For those of us who have paid into SS for years, if the Republicans ended SS, there would have to be a significant refund of what was paid in, with compounded interest.

I think by taking out SS funds from paychecks, the government has established a contract with its contributors.

It would be a mess to try to undo it.

Feb 2022

WHEREAS the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States clearly prohibits all persons who have engaged in insurrection from holding elective office, and

WHEREAS Madison Cawthorn, Republican of North Carolina, couldn’t even wait a week after taking office before he engaged in insurrection against the United States, and

WHEREAS the Fourteenth Amendment gives a remedy to this disability that could in no way apply to Madison Cawthorn because no one here likes him,

Now, therefore, be it resolved:

1. Madison Cawthorn is hereby expelled from the United States House of Representatives.

2. Madison Cawthorn shall refund to the United States Treasury all monies provided to him between the official start of the insurrection, which shall be defined as the time the first insurrectionist walked onto the Capitol Grounds, and the time he was formally expelled from Congress.

3. The records of the House of Representatives shall be amended to indicate the seat of the First Congressional District of North Carolina has been vacant since January 3, 2001.

4. Madison Cawthorn shall be barred from entering any land in a 100-mile radius of Washington, D.C., and any federal property with the exception of United States Courthouses.

5. Madison Cawthorn shall be referred to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution for sedition.

6. In the event Madison Cawthorn is convicted of sedition, the Office of the Attorney General is directed to enter into a contract with the Republic of Turkey to house him in a high security prison for the duration of his natural life.
