It is time to stop threatening Putin with words.

In my opinion, the US, our allies should start a massive military build up in NATO countries. That will let Putin know if he attacks any NATO country he will pay a heavy price. Putin cannot be allowed to go further than Ukraine.

I imagine there would be the danger of Russians rallying around him if there was a military response.

The sanctions will cause inconvenience to Russia but they will not "ruin" it. There is no evidence of that whatsoever. Especially since much of the world will ignore the sanctions anyway.
