Russias stock market has lost nearly 40% of its value today and at one point was down nearly 45%. Its one of the biggest single-day meltdowns in modern market history.

Guess how many Russians will yell and scream at this happening? I suspect hardly any, being that only a few people in Russia have all of the money whereas the rest of the Russian people have nothing. This is putin's Russians, he put all of his buddies in place so they could rip off the people and all of the Russian assets when the communist Soviet Union collapsed. So, while putin is moaning about the lost Russian empire, he and his buddies are running to the banks, being hypocrites about it too.

(40,478 posts)For a few words of support China now get first dibs on Siberian natural resources, and possibly Ukrainian agricultural commodities as well, should he manage to hold his position.
I doubt China is going to be accepting Rubles in trade with Russia.

(5,969 posts)Whatever business and investments may be lost between Western countries and Russia, I hope it will be balanced out by more business between those Western (or other) countries. Longterm consequences are needed.

(2,689 posts)For example, if you knew that Putin had just ingested some polonium, you might consider this the moment to buy. If the people waiting to take over were pro democracy and pro nuclear disarmament and willing to take exchanges and help for a huge reduction in force, then you would be a fool not to buy while it is low.
