Just my feeling that the way Trump reacted to it (not totally surprising since he loves to put on a show but ...) that he had something to do with it and helped make it happen. Not talking about what he did during his administration, but since. Since he would do anything to get back into power, it's gnawing at me that he has a role somehow in this. I hope I'm wrong.

(4,845 posts)Trump might not have a direct hand in this but he sure helped Putin to arrive at the decision with knowledge about US capabilities.

(22,654 posts)and what a better time for Putin to invade. He has been wanting to invade Ukraine and the timing right now helps him and his old buddy. So anything is possible.

(30,613 posts)One sole reason: to enable Putin's Ukraine plot.
That's the thread that runs through all the investigations and ties them together.

(30,613 posts)Putin installed Trump specifically to support his Ukraine plot. That is the one and only reason Trump came to power.
It's no coincidence that Trump chose Ukraine for his cockamamie fake investigation / blackmail scheme. He was acting on orders from Putin.
It's no coincidence that Trump withheld military aid to Ukraine as long as possible.
It's no coincidence that Trump did everything he could to weaken NATO.

(15,220 posts)Trump also knows what Putin does to his assets when they are no longer providing any usefulness.
So, yes, Trump is going to be kissing Putins ass in any way necessary to stay in good standing.

(15,220 posts)Seriously. Trump sold out long ago. Putin helped install Trump because he realized Trump could have use while he was in the White House. Trump desperately wants to continue to be useful in order to stay alive. Thus, the desperation.
Just my opinion, of course, but I have felt this way since the morning after the 2016 election.

(6,169 posts)And Trump is a Putin wannabe.
He admires the fact that Putin has no limit to his power as leader of Russia; that he can punish his enemies with impunity; that he has amassed a gigantic fortune as a direct result of his total control of Russia; that he has zero accountability.
Putin is everything Trump wants to be, and Trump is deeply in debt, both financially and politically, to him.
He expects Putin to help him again in 2024. Unfortunately for Trump, Putin doesn't need him as much as he needs Putin.
Trump is just a useful idiot to Putin.
