. But after moving over to Fox News in 2009, Mr. Carlson decided to ditch the bow tie in favor of the more traditional necktie. Many observers speculated that the preppy appearance engendered by wearing the bow tie made him look like one of those snooty elites he rails against each night on his show. ....
Carlsons collection of 450 classic, many one-of-a-kind, bow ties has been estimated to be worth $1.5 million by Christies auction house.

(35,454 posts)According to Tucker Swanson McNear Carlsons own Wikipedia page, the Fox host knows a thing or two about privilege himself. Carlsons father is Richard Carlson, former director of the Voice of America and president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting who also served as a U.S. ambassador. His stepmother is an heiress to the Swanson frozen-food fortune

******** So who is Tucker CARLSON another one of those Legacy kids, the ones born on First, Second, or Third base, in his case Second Base. He used to wear a bow tie and was called the Bow Tie Boy but quit wearing them when he went to Faux. Hes been at CNN, MSNBC, and Faux, been said to have failed upward. Oh, and he has a brother named Buckley as in wingnut William BUCKLEY.
He almost had a genteel good humor in his early days, but on Faux has found that wingnut hate speech pays better, currently doing the Drumpf thing of siding with PUTEEN. And wow, his retired collection of bow ties is worth over a mil-yone bucks.
But his heritage is his genes: His father Richard has a grounding in propaganda, having been appointed by RAYGUN to head the Voice of America, and Richard CARLSON (Carlson is his adopted name) used his propaganda skills well, having been the source for DRUDGE of the LEWISNSKY story.
Fun fact: In BowTies MSNBC show, the producer was one Willie GEIST, himself a Legacy kid, but who has stayed clean, sticking with MSNBC/NBC and proves that decency pays, now a co-host of Morning SCHMO and on NBCs Today.

(35,454 posts)Carlson was born the son of college student Richard Boynton and Dorothy Anderson, 18 and 15 years old, respectively.[3] He was born with rickets and mildly bent legs, as Anderson had starved herself to keep the pregnancy a secret. In 1943, Richard Boynton attempted to persuade Dorothy to accompany him in stealing their baby and get married; when she refused on the grounds that she was a junior in high school and nobody but her parents knew about the baby, he shot and killed himself two blocks from her house.[4]
Six weeks after he was born, Carlson was given to The Home for Little Wanderers, an orphanage in Boston. The home ran a classified ad about him in the local papers, under the headline: "Home Wanted for Foundling." Florence Moberger, a housewife in Malden, was the only person to respond.
Florence Moberger and her husband Carl had three children but were unable to have more.[5] Carl and Florence agreed to foster Carlson until a family wanted to adopt him. Carlson lived with the Mobergers for over two years and stated that he developed a deep bond with the family. During that time, Carlson claimed many rospective parents came to visit him, including his birth mother, Anderson, posing as her own sister.[4]

Frankly I'm not surprised about the Geist connection. I watched a MJ segment where Geist stood outside Zabars (famous NY store) and made fun of the liberals that shopped there. Have never liked him since.

(70,691 posts)I stopped watching Morning SCHMO in 2012, but back then and in the recent snippets, I've never heard him spout wingnut stuff, has kept to the Legacy genteel mode, and he's double dipping into the mainstream Today mode.
Glad that we're not at loggerheads!
