UK bans Russian private jets from its airspace.

Great idea.

Feb 25 (Reuters) - British transport minister Grant Shapps said in a tweet on Friday that no Russian private jet can fly in UK airspace or touch down, effective immediately.

"Putin's actions are unlawful and anyone benefitting from Russia's aggression in Ukraine is not welcome here. I've strengthened our ban in the UK so that no Russian private jet can fly in UK airspace, or touchdown – effective immediately," Shapps tweeted.

Maybe if they’re stuck at home with Pooty-Poot they’ll take corrective action.

Last night a member of the Ukrainian parliament said that the NATO countries must declare the airspace off limits for Ukraine to give a fair chance to keep Russia from winning. Adam Kinzinger was just on CNN and he said the same thing. What are the NATO countries waiting for?

You asked “What are the NATO countries waiting for ?

Well, NATO is a defensive alliance of MEMBER nations. We can’t just go and shoot down other nations aircraft. That would be an act or war.

We can legally supply arms. We cant legally supply an air force including pilots. Ukraine has to do the heavy lifting here.

The legal authority for creating no-fly zones comes from Chapter 7, Article 42 of the U.N. Charter,

BUT, Russia has the ability to veto it so it won't happen.
