Russia Used Beatings and Tricks to Forcibly Send Rookie Troops to Ukraine, Rights Group Says

Mothers of soldiers all across the country say their sons were battered and duped into the war, a human rights organization has claimed.

Russian soldiers from all across the country were deceived into heading to the Ukrainian border, and some were beaten if they resisted, according to the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers, a Russian non-governmental organization that works to expose human rights violations within the military.

The group is reportedly preparing a complaint for the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office alleging that their sons only recently joined the military as conscripts and were told they were going to the border with Ukraine for drills. But their statuses were then abruptly changed to contract soldiers— a role for those with more combat and training experience—and they were suddenly thrust into war.

Keeping his elite forces behind. Then ones who can do the most damage at his command.

Perhaps they just might have a conscience that this folly of Putin's is just not worth it. As more responses come in from around the world to this unwarranted aggression, they might defect?

What Putin has done is UNITE the FREE world against him and the numbers are not in their favor. Nukes or no Nukes. This will not end nicely because the weapons of war today are far more sophisticated and deadly.

Scary people. How anyone could live in Russia is beyond my comprehension.

I wonder how much these "recruits" are paid to put up with this crap?

That crematorium would be one way of hiding casualties...on both sides. Now, explain who the Nazis are?

8. We need to make clear this is about PUTIN and refer to the whole thing as Putin more than as Russia

Russian people have been victims of Putin for years now. That entire area has gone through tough times and there never was recovery . It's suffering upon suffering.

Think how it would have been for the US to start a similar useless war which has nothing to do with defense but all about one person's ego after everything we went through with Trump in office and Covid and economic uncertainty. And we are a wealthy nation. But now think of what Russians are going through without the wealth and other privileges we have .

9. Putin is using Ukraine to battle harden inexperienced troops.

He's not employing battle hardened troops or premium hardware. Sacrificing second string and older equipment. Wear down Ukraine and then send in the first string to mop up. No respect for life.

11. I'm not sure what joining the military means to these mothers.

To me it means joining the military. If Russia isn’t killing their sons for desertion, this is a kindler, gentler Russia than in past decades. Things will only get worse for these young soldiers.

12. In most military organizations you just get ordered

to do stuff and you then do the stuff you were ordered to do or face generally unpleasant consequences.

The Russian military might be an exception but I doubt it.

when he does not even have enthusiasm from his own army is astounding! And there are Russians protesting already! He does not have a country that is solidly behind him.
