How about just tyrants using them as pawns, like the child soldiers were used as pawns during the Nigerian civil war.

Don't make this about racism, because this ain't it, it's a madman, Putin, attacking another country, not because of race, but because he's bat shit crazy.

(Left to Right) George V of Great Britain, Wilhelm II of Germany, and Nicholas II of Russia.

Look at these three, cousins, who opted to launch what would become World War 1 rather than work out power sharing with their people — who overwhelmingly wanted no part of war. Now, Putin fancies himself a Czar.

In Putin’s Circle, Obama Was the 'N-Word’

By Richard Prince
The Root, 3/16/18

Russian President Vladimir Putin was so contemptuous of Barack Obama that Putin’s aides, if not Putin himself, would refer to the United States’ first black president using the N-word, according to a just-released book by two investigative reporters.

Michael Isikoff, now chief investigative correspondent for Yahoo News, and David Corn, Washington bureau chief for Mother Jones, also cite information indicating that Donald Trump, who had claimed that Obama was not born in the United States, vied with Putin in his hatred of the 44th president. They report on a controversial dossier that said Trump hired prostitutes to defile space where the American president and first lady had slept.

“Putin and his inner circle had nothing but utter contempt for Obama and his administration — much of it cast in racist terms,” Isikoff and Corn write in “Russian Roulette: : The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump.”

“Putin and his top advisers routinely denigrated Obama and his national security team as ‘weak’ and ‘indecisive’ — and then, contradictorily, blamed him for meddling in Russia’s internal affairs. In Putin’s presence, Obama would be called a ‘monkey,’ and it was not uncommon for the American president to be referred to as the N-word.”

When we blitzkrieged Iraq and the Iraqis started fighting back, the reaction was: “They’re being MEAN to us! They’re supposed to be GRATEFUL!”

One of these days, we’re going to learn from all this unwarranted aggression…

For example, initially, the vast bulk of Iraq's army did not offer real resistance to the American invasion. They had little real loyalty to Iraq's government, which needless to say, was not popularly elected. Americans totally botched the initial occupation phase, among other blunders. Russia is being totally resisted from day one.

All over the world rich people who grabbed power start wars, and everybody else suffers, including the soldiers.

When I was a kid my parents knew a German family. The man had been conscripted into the Nazi army during WWII. He'd served on the eastern front, against Russia. He was lucky to survive. He didn't want to be a Nazi soldier. He was just a kid.

It's extremely rare to hear of an American killed or wounded in Iraq for sometime.. and let's not forget the Kurds, who are a sizeable minority in Iraq, want us there too.

Iraq is a nation created by Great Britain and France after WWII with no regard to the hodgepodge of clans, tribes, ethnic groups and religions of the people's who found themselves inside the newly drawn borders. Your average Iraqi is more likely to be loyal to his or her tribe or clan then to the nation of Iraq itself.

Leaving them in the lurch was a really bad idea.

Invading Iraq was just one bad idea in the whole string of bad ideas that began with drawing an arbitrary border around mutually-hostile peoples. Thanks for nothing, Winston...

He's scared shit-less. He probably just saw some innocent person blown to bits. Every fiber of his being is telling him that this is wrong.

I feel sorry for him. He's being forced to do something that he doesn't want to do.

The only thing he has left now is tears, he will never be the same.

While my dad won't talk about Vietnam much, I have to wonder if he had a moment like this. Mom has told me that he left happy go lucky and returned a completely different person.

I hope they didn't harm this young soldier, all he wants to do is go home.

The kind thing to do would be to feed this young Russian and take him to the Ukrainian authorities for processing.
