The Tweet is misleading, though the atrocities are not.

(22,672 posts)Do anyone know the status of the first vehicle that was shot at and never moved afterwards?

(356 posts)That was a direct speed up and drive over and then back again move. They knew what they were doing and it was no accidental loss of control.

(22,672 posts)The intent was to kill, run over the vehicle. I imagine the driver was swerving to avoid collision, which is why the APC was swerving to cause the impact.

(7,772 posts)Appeared to be some sort of engineering vehicle. Question is, where are the other units? If this is an example of the haphazard way they are deploying, the Ukrainian's may have a chance.

(10,074 posts)Not sure how, but it seems the Russians can be as brutal as their leader.

(1,328 posts)And even the claim that the occupant of that one is now suspect. Lots of disinformation going around and lots of trolls to move it.
(The APC driver lost control. Thats a a good one.)

(2,120 posts)A reminder to be skeptical of any initial reports or claims tonight, including from Russian or Ukrainian government sources. Many people said this was a Russian tank in Kyiv this morning, but it is a Strela-10 air defense system and is almost certainly Ukrainian.
It's from a tweet, but my friend in the business says it is accurate. He is very well connected to the current situation.

(36,354 posts)There are reports that this was a Ukrainian vehicle stolen by pro Russian sabatours who were soon later killed by Ukrainian forces

(2,120 posts)My friend believes it was a Ukrainian vehicle due to other info he has available.
I had not heard the reports that it was stolen by pro-Russian saboteurs. That would be convenient. I'll try to see if my friend has heard of that.

(22,672 posts)And can we cut with the snark and be serious? If you know something and have proof to refute what is being shared, please provide it and keep the personal commentary about how 'reports' show you are more informed that the rest of us to a minimum.

(36,354 posts)And the DUer I replied to agreed with what I said about both Ukraine and Russia operating the system.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K35_Strela-10#Operators
And I agreed with him that the vehicle very likely was Ukrainian.
"The collision occurred in Kyiv's Obolon district on Friday. The tank is believed to have been driven by pro-Russian 'saboteurs'.
The tank is believed to be a Strela-10 an anti-aircraft vehicle used by both the Russian and Ukrainian armies. "

"As the sound of gunshots echoed off the nearby buildings, a tank - said to have been stolen by Russians - also crashed and crushed a civilian car on the road running past the car park.
Miraculously the driver - an elderly person - survived the shocking smash, and rescuers were later able to free the from the wreckage.
The two incidents were initially reported separately, but a new video clip posted to social media has revealed they were in fact linked, and part of the same skirmish."

when it comes to using my smart phone, I'm not all that smart.

(22,672 posts)I think that's the plan. Get people frustrated by the lack of clarity.
Thanks again.
