The distinction between patriotism and nationalism has never been clearer than before now

Patriotism says: Oh no, someone has invaded our country. I better go fight them and I don't care who is fighting alongside me.

Nationalism says: Oh no, someone has invaded our country... Well, maybe if they take out the groups I don't like instead of me, maybe it won't be so bad. Maybe we can work together. I might fight them, but I need to make sure there aren't funny ethnicities, religions, sexualities, groups I make strawman arguments against that would benefit if I fight them first.
