Sean Penn, on the ground in Ukraine, says Putin has made a horrible mistake for all of humankind

Actor and activist Sean Penn, who is on the ground in Ukraine filming a documentary on the invasion, denounced Russian President Vladimir Putin for what the American filmmaker called “a most horrible mistake for all of humankind.”

In a statement to The Washington Post, Penn on Saturday praised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while acknowledging the destruction caused by Putin in the days since Russia launched broad attacks throughout Ukraine.

“Already a brutal mistake of lives taken and hearts broken, and if he doesn’t relent, I believe Mr. Putin will have made a most horrible mistake for all of humankind,” Penn said. “President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people have risen as historic symbols of courage and principle.”

He added, “Ukraine is the tip of the spear for the democratic embrace of dreams. If we allow it to fight alone, our soul as America is lost.”

For me that was about the point when Hollywood lost its compass. Coming of age and films aimed at teens were never anything in my mind. I suppose they made money, and maybe that's the point. Money took over the business. Or they'd had enough of 1960-80 historical films, half of which were WWII. But they still do them today.

Conversely, NATO and/or American troops will not engage the Russians in Ukraine.

and throw a nuke at someone if he fears losing power.... I hope not.. It has been documented that he thinks Europe and NATO are encroaching on his idea of a perfect russia and it's allies
Former Soviet satellite countries joining NATO is driving him nuts. This is the first step to regain it's former glory... Threatening Finland and Sweden if they join NATO is not a good look

from liver cirrhosis/cancer causes HE (hepatic encephalopathy) a neurologic symptom of toxic inflammatory brain disease that causes acute personality changes, et al other changes in consciousness and judgment. Some claim it's reversible - not sure...I think my brother died in a hospice last year of both.

Treating one would make the other worse; no chance of fulfilling a long-held fantasy of returning the borders of a romanticized tzarist country. So why wait? Putin's dad, conscripted into the Russian navy and continuing in the army, wasn't like home much.

Perhaps he sat on grandpa's knee and heard tales from when Gramps was Lenin's and Stalin's personal cook, sputtering genocidal plans for the Holodemor, while being served up the richest of Russian's foods. No matter, tyrants who do these deeds are not often praised in what remains of the historical record of humanity.

His biggest complaint was Ukraine joining NATO. That alone should tell them everything they need to know,
they could change their charter to include countries who have applied for membership. Then go stomp his
troops in Ukraine today before he feels like invading someone else tomorrow.

how I liked Sean Penn and tons of people jumped all over me.
Not everyone likes his politics but at least he don’t sit on his ass and do nothing!
He’s been a big advocate for the Covid.
Besides he tells Kid Rock he’s a greasy voice screeching
piece of shit!
