The nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson is an attempt to defile the supreme court and humiliate and degrade the US, the Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson claimed on Friday night.
If confirmed, Jackson, whose nomination was announced by Joe Biden earlier on Friday, will be the first Black woman on the court.
Carlson said Jackson was nominated because of how she looks. He said: Do you want to live in that country? Most people dont, of all colors. They think you should be elevated in America based on what you do, on the choices not on how you were born, not on your DNA, because thats Rwanda.
One columnist called his comments the perfect distillation of white supremacy.

(215 posts)how Tucker rationalizes his comments against the fact that 108 out of the 115 SCOTUS judges have been white males. That statistic kind points out choices based on appearance. Along with millions of other Americans, I expect that KBJ will be able to demonstrate her qualifications quite well and President Biden won't have to apologize for his nomination. Tucker needs to remember that elections do have consequences.

(27,806 posts)I actually looked up the number of years the SC had gone without a woman once, and thought how satisfying it would be if the Court was all women for the equivalent number of 200+ years (can't remember the exact number offhand).

(17,862 posts)It seems that it is time that 6+% of our population gets some representation. Given the crap that black women have had to go through in US history - it is about time.
This coming from a 58 year old white male.
