(53,074 posts)He's had no qualms about assassinating dissidents in foreign countries. The British certainly didn't care for those crimes on their soil and called out Putin in response. Putin actually seems to enjoy being an international pariah. He's a strong man who wants the world to know that's what he is.
Have you heard anything about whether the meeting between Zelensky and Putin is actually taking place? Is that how you were thinking about Putin's assassinating Zelensky?

(12,485 posts)For health reasons or whatever... I don't think he's President next year.
He takes over a neighboring country only to retire? Or do you think the oligarchs will force him out?

2) The population is unhappy

I predict some kind of retirement, protection granted for him to live his billionaire life for as long as he has.
A younger more moderate leader, better ties with the west...

(12,449 posts)retiring due to health reasons usually meant that one was deposed.
I think the Russian High Command is to re-evaluate their relationship with him as the war gets worse and they'll remove him and his toadies.

(33,419 posts)I don't think I need to make a list; there's plenty of examples from the post-WW2 era. But when they go, it's because they're too old to hang on.
He's not even elderly yet.
