I think I'll take a drive this afternoon and witness it for myself. It's a little over an hour's drive away. It would certainly be worth it.

There are casinos in both Canada and the U.S. so I think I can contribute to their take for a little while.

(167,177 posts)and it was pretty cool. We stayed over on the Canadian side and Niagara Falls, ON was a hoot with all the little shops and attractions.
I had done an OP a couple years ago about the 1918 boat that had been trapped in the rocks for a century that had broken free and shifted - https://www.democraticunderground.com/12163395
I had dug through some of my pics to see if I could spot it and did find it (view from Skylon) -

(20,683 posts)I was just gobsmacked when we took our tour of Niagara Falls from the Canada side in 2011 in the early evening when it was lit up once darkness took over. There is much more to see. Have your passports ready however and COVID vaccination cards.

The walk across to the island and then to the far side of the island is easier than crossing the border.
Have a hat and raincoat ready. If the wind is blowing the wrong way, the mist will soak you. Ask me how I know

(1,343 posts)Niagara Falls, Ontario has had a pretty awful 2 years financially since the start of the pandemic. Once the vaccine passport restrictions are lifted, things should improve enormously. My little town also depends on tourists to patronize the Shaw Festival and all the wineries and breweries and wonderful restaurants. We've really missed seeing cars with licence plates from all over the US!
