I had not been out for a few days, but I went out today and prices at the cheap places have risen about four cents since the invasion began. I live in Northen California and I know my area may not be typical because it is a resort area and gas prices are usually a bit inflated most of the time anyway. We are at $4.59. It was $4.55 this time last week.

(6,554 posts)and 87 was at $3.25/gallon today. I maximized the Kroger discount and got it for $2.85. I honestly expected it to be much higher. But considering what you're paying, I have no right to complain.

(20,200 posts)Ours was $3.59 here (30 mi. west of Rochester) yesterday, but it could have gone up overnight. I'm glad I'm retired and don't have to commute back and forth to work everyday.

(34,748 posts)I'm in South Carolina. Gas was $3.09 since before Thanksgiving. Two weeks ago, it went up to $3.29. Now, it's up to $3.49. Still cheaper than what it was in Dumbya's last year, but I'm still glad I don't drive much.

Yes, high taxes, but they dont change as prices rise or lower. Its just that the oil companies can charge whatever they want. Coming to a pump near you

(20,408 posts)Normal price would be about 1.30 litre, went down a bit at the start of covid.

(24,906 posts)It looks like the prices aren't going crazy, so that's good news. I also don't see people lining up to panic buy here, either.

It would mean for some lean times, but it's better than allowing more Ukrainian blood to be spilled.
Peace in our time describes the failings that lead to WWII. I wonder, what will the history books say about this war? Gas for our cars?

that oil and gas companies like to mess with our minds. Not the president. Not the governor. Not your mayor. It all goes back to Big Oil.

(12,443 posts)That was Thursday afternoon. That's about 30 cents up from what we paid several months ago when we first moved back to the area. Sticker shock bc we were paying under $3.00 in TN (around $2.65 in August).
Is what it is.

(113,201 posts)and a pretty wide range $3.22 - $3.48/gal for regular. I have never understood why gas prices go up and up the closer you are to the interstate.
Mr.Bill
(24,906 posts)on the interstate and getting gas. They want to do it close to the interstate so they can get back on their route quickly.
It also stands to reason that the gas station's overhead could be higher because commercial real estate is worth more if close to the highway.
