Proud Boys chapter leader accosts then sucker punches woman who just happened to walk by him

A chapter leader in the far-right Proud Boys extremist gang was charged with assault Sunday in Akron, Ohio, after he was recorded shouting racial epithets at a black woman and then sucker-punching her in the face.

A man police identified as Andrew Walls, 26, was caught on video outside a bar in the early hours of Sunday, stumbling and scuffling with other patrons while spewing a torrent of racial slurs. His victim, 23-year-old Cameron Morgan, was passing by with a friend when she heard Walls and others around him screaming “ck says: you know.”

“We were like ... ‘You can’t say that. That’s not OK,’” she told her dad, local teacher and former sportswriter David Lee Morgan Jr., who recorded the conversation and provided a transcript to HuffPost.

Video taken by Cameron Morgan’s friend shows what happened next: Walls squares up, points his finger at Morgan, and repeats the racist slur, adding: “you know, shut your mouth.” He then cocks his right fist and punches her directly in the face, the impact of which releases a blood-curdling pop.

Sat down in the bus a couple of years ago and heard someone mumbling in the back seats. This skinny little geek was muttering, "Get off the bus, n*****" over and over again. This was apparently directed at the elderly black gentleman sitting a few rows ahead of me; naturally the geek was keeping it just low enough that the target of his hate couldn't actually hear him.

I was still debating whether to make a scene when the bus reached the old man's stop and he got off, oblivious to the geek's rage-simperings. The geek geared down to muttering the n-word every few seconds. Ah, but then! A couple of stops later another black passenger boarded--younger and athletic--and sat down between me and the geek. The geek, brave culture wah-wee-wah that he was, immediately fell silent.

The geek jumped up and rushed off at the very next stop. As the bus pulled away, I looked out the window and saw him glaring at the new passenger, his mouth working furiously. It wasn't hard to imagine what he was saying.

He's probably still out there somewhere, just being an asshole.

We always say that speech may be free, but not free of consequence. This could be one of those cases. And no, I'm not defending this asshole, he belongs in jail without question regardless of what happened prior.
People need to calm down and stop hating each other. That is what media and politics want, outright division. This is all very stupid, and we are giving them exactly what they want. And they are in the back room laughing at all of us for doing exactly what they expect.
