I'm so shook up that I probably won't be able to get my point across.
I did a post the other day about how fucked-up it seemed to me that a show called "Entertainment Tonight" was doing stories about Ukraine. The post kind of sunk. I think only a few people understood my point because I probably didn't convey it well at all.
I'm sitting here crying and shaking with fucking rage right now, wishing I was a bit younger and a lot more healthy so I would be physically able to take my ass to Ukraine and fight.
I just watched two videos in which a civilian Ukrainian father was killed by the Russians in the middle of a road while the adult son screamed "please don't die daddy" in his native language. The second video showed the deceased father thrown into a ditch by the side of the road, with one of his shepherd-like dogs sitting by his side. His other dog was massacred in the van that either the father or son was was driving.
CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, FOX "Entertainment Tonight"...why aren't you showing videos like this, uncensored? Let the world see. stop talking. Shut your fucking pieholes. Just show the videos continuously. Let everyone see. Make people puke with rage and contempt over what Putin is actually doing over there.
I want to type a lot more, but I'll get banned.

They only want viewers. The more people watch the more they charge for ads. I feel much better without their questions and thoughts on things.

(17,425 posts)I didn't feel the same way about other wars/conflicts. In fact, I did.
Are you questioning why I decided to make a post about this particular situation?

(20,491 posts)We have no concept of responsibility only rights. This goes from the very top (think Barbie Bush and her beautiful mind quote) all the way down to that hick sovereign citizen in Joetown, USA. Our national psyche is warped despite mine or yours or our friends rationality and grasp of reality our group/national psyche is warped.

(17,425 posts)of the situation on the show "Entertainment Tonight".
I do not usually watch TV, but my wife had it on the other night and I had my back to it while at the computer, and I lost it when I heard Entertainment Tonight come on and they were talking about Ukraine. The irony of this hit me, and then I started thinking about how Biden's poll numbers are currently low, (and that's all I ever hear when I do happen to be near a TV), yet the reason for Trump's first impeachment is not being consistently talked about instead, etc. etc.
And then all of THAT got me thinking that many people do not pay attention to anything and just go about their lives. For example, we on DU know about Trump pulling our troops out of Syria, and the betrayal of the Kurds and all of the anguish that caused, but if you ask Joe Average what they think of that situation now, they most likely won't remember it, or they most likely will not know what you are talking about.
I'm trying not to generalize too much, but too many people in this country (not the majority of people, but nevertheless) merely know that Russia is attacking Ukraine, and that's about it. I think the job of MSM is to inform truthfully, and to attempt to get important matters into the minds of people. I do not want to hear the theme music for "Entertainment Tonight" playing while talking about a dire matter, and I don't want the situation in Ukraine to be presented in a comparatively vanilla manner by pretty smiling people.

(7,598 posts)war with Iraq the Bush administration it seems that our leaders decided we shouldn't see the carnage of war so I personally think that the news media has a important role to keep us informed. It is up to us to be able to disseminate what is reality and what is propaganda. Such is life.
