Mass Walkout Of U.N. Meeting As Russian Foreign Minister Joins

Ambassadors and diplomats walked out of a meeting of the United Nation’s Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Tuesday during a speech by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Members began to leave as soon as the Russian minister started speaking after being introduced.

16. The head of the UN needs to announce a special commission to review Russia's seat as

one of the permanent members of the Security Council. The UN charter says that the USSR is the permanent member, but it no longer exists, and the Security Council should have been reduced to four permanent members. Every pressure must be brought to bear against Putin to encourage Russian leaders to remove him.

23. I know that could be an issue, but China is still substantially the same as when the UN was formed.

Te USSR doesn’t even exist, and its territories have all formed new states. Why should only one of those states have been given preference over all others? Such a review of Russia’s status may not lead to changes, but it does announce to other Russian leaders that the world is now willing to consider isolating Russia, which will seriously damage their economy and future.
