Who supported a sadistic lying corrupt madman dictator who invades another Democracy with lies for power, greed, and ego. They're heading for one of the worse depressions seen in our lifetime in Russia from his actions. Putin will soon be threatening to hurt them for this happening to him. TFG is the same thing as Putin. A loser, and a threat to the USA and the world. Putin killing women and children and the elderly then being called a genius, smart and savvy should scare the hell out of everyone.

(153,243 posts)TFG is very jealous of Putin, and is a dictator-wannabe. DeSantis is a fascist thug too. I agree with your assessment.

So, sad he couldn't use those skills to help the Russian people instead of using the citizens of Russia as his personal piggy bank.

(13,934 posts)If the right keeps talking about an American civil war.. take a look at Ukraine..
That's what we will get. Pain, sorrow, loss of wealth and life it self...
I hope this does not happen and cooler minds prevail..

(18,644 posts)Putin is trying to prevent it.
Would MAGA have turned on Trump if he had destroyed our economy?
No. Always it was someone elses fault.

(10,219 posts)Not if.
There was so much more the government could have done to prevent the 3 million dead Americans from COVID. There was so much more the federal government could have done to prevent the crash we did have. But TFG has everyone convinced the worst economic crash since the Great Depression wasn't his fault because COVID.
He did crash the economy and his worshippers act as if nothing happened.

(12,410 posts)When the food starts running out for the Russian people, there is still months of winter to come with nothing to grow in the gardens. So along with his poorly thought out military plans, he also hasnt given a thought to the stomachs of his people. So much for the great leader who thinks he has been chosen by fate to bring back the glory of the Russian empire.

I read this morning that we are delivering stingers. Hundreds of them. I do not think puketin can get air superiority.
With stingers and tank buster missiles Ukraine can win.

(4,552 posts)Roads to Moscow, Al Stewart
Winter brought with her the rains, oceans of mud filled the roads
Gluing the tracks of their tanks to the ground while the sky filled with snow
Correct, weather is what stopped the German invasion of russia. Now in an ironic twist the russians in Ukraine cannot leave the roads. A tank invasion from one road will not work. So they sit like ducks in a row.
The weather for Kyiv does not show another freeze coming! Russia is screwed.
I wish NATO would just do a mass fly over. Just to show how exposed they are!
More of Roads to Moscow:
And far away behind their lines the partisans are stirring in the forest
Coming unexpectedly upon their outposts, growing like a promise
You'll never know, you'll never know which way to turn, which way to look you'll never see us
As we're stealing through the blackness of the night
You'll never know, you'll never hear us
I do not think russia will ever peacefully control Ukraine.
Send more stingers.

(9,674 posts)I feel so terribly for them. They remind me of all of us on DU during the the Trump years. Wasn't our fault that piece of shit found his way into office. He sure as eff didn't speak for us. But we didn't have a say in the matter and he effed us up bad.

(1,367 posts)The Russian people (most of them, the common folk) are not our enemy, any more than we were the same as trump. They are protesting (which is unlawful there) and feel as helpless as we did. They are not the problem. One difference between here and there--trump helped our richest and they loved him for it. Putin is responsible for their $600 million yachts being seized. Here's hoping they turn on him .

(7,772 posts)Putin maneuvered his way to the top of a hard-case country based on his own abilities. Has an actual PhD (earned in the wilderness years), is intelligent.
Trump, on the other hand, well, we all know that story.
And as for who would be the better Hitler, Trump by far. If Trump were where Putin finds himself today, he would be leveling the cities, without regard to the consequences. Putin appears to be reluctant to take that action for now, because they are invading to own the country and resources, which includes the populace.
That said, I completely agree. First thing out the window, the dollar as the worlds reserve currency, and the petrodollar. The US being a nation of laws (for the wealthy, anyway) brings economic benefit, that being demand for the dollar and foreign investment.
