If you're a moderate considering voting for Mitt Romney, there are certain facts you should know... according to Bill Maher. While you may not think the two candidates are terribly different, in Maher's opinion, only one of them is poised to release the Kraken in terms of the religious right:
"When you elect Mitt you're electing every right wing nut he's pandered to in the last 10 years. If the Mitt-mobile does roll into Washington it'll be towing behind it the whole anti-intellectual, anti-Science freakshow."
Watch Maher's stern warning to voters above and let us know what you think. Would President Romney stand-up to the zealot-side of his party or are "standing up" and "Mitt Romney" mutually exclusive concepts?

(15,139 posts)1. In foreign policy Mitt would be Bush redux with the
neocons back in charge and Iran next on the list for some bloody nation building. Domestically he'd be held hostage by the lunatics on the far right who want to destroy the safety net and set the country back a hundred years.
He couldn't "stand-up" any more than any other ventriloquist's dummy - which is all he'd be.

Is going after Limbaugh opportunistic, especially on the part of Democrats who have occasionally been willing to throw womens reproductive rights under the bus? Absolutely. Is there a massive difference between sexist insults and a sustained attack meant to silence a woman who is advocating for policies that would benefit other women? Yes, but lets not pretend any of this is about policy or real womens lives! The war on women is not about misogynistic insults. Those are merely a symptom of the same disease that, more critically, is causing a political onslaught on womens health and rights.
Unfortunately, the but liberal men are sexist meme has been picked up by those on the right who are the most opportunistic pseudo-feminists of all, the ones who think forced-ultrasound laws can justly be called Womens Right to Know acts. As writer Katie Heaney said on Twitter this morning, GOP dudes who say liberals dont attack Bill Maher on his sexism arent listening to feminists. Sort of their problem in the first place?
