🚨Pentagon nixes Polish plan to give MiGs to Ukraine via Ramstein:
departing from a U.S./NATO base in Germany to fly into airspace that is contested with Russia over Ukraine raises serious concerns for the entire NATO alliance simply not clear there is substantive rationale.

(56,081 posts)I thought the idea was Polish planes go to Ukraine, and separately, different US planes go to Poland.
US Planes going from Germany to Poland shouldn't be an issue.
Planes going from Poland to Ukraine shouldn't be a problem as long as the don't leave from a US/NATO airbase.

(22,186 posts)country, period. It's not real clear in the write up. I share your confusion.
You are correct that the planes would leave from Poland, and then be replaced by the US, in Poland. But since Poland is a NATO country, they might be saying that the action would be an act of war by NATO?

(56,081 posts)But Russia has already said that the sanctions are an act of war so what does it matter.
