https://cdapress.com/news/2022/mar/10/elephants-room/This is from Idaho.
This got disclosed because the coup plotters called a Republican who ran for sheriff in the last election to ask him to participate, and he called the paper.
My managing editor spent the entire day fielding emails from Republicans who are screaming about this. The general consensus was, "we knew (Brent Regan) was nuts, but not HOW nuts..."

(53,397 posts)Massive numbers of Republicans are leaving California because guns/abortion/Judy Blume books in the libraries/whatever. A very high number are winding up in this county. As a result, weve got one elected Democrat in the whole county. The Republican primary usually features three candidates: someone from either the Reagan Republicans or the Pachyderm Club, someone from the Idaho Freedom Foundation, and someone from the John Birch Society. The Birchers havent made significant inroads because theyve only been running candidates in the last couple of elections, but give them time.
In Kootenai County the Republicans dont have to cheat to win, but they do it anyway.

(35,005 posts)There's nothing left to that party but bigots and criminals, and it won't surprise me if we find out that they're trying this shit elsewhere, too. Thank goodness most of them are stupid. How idiotic is it to try to recruit someone who ran previously as a Republican to "infiltrate" the Democratic party? Did they think the Dems wouldn't recognize him?
