(7,604 posts)The GOP is feeling more embarrassment. They've been drooling over Putin's strongman image for years, and they can't continue by promoting war crimes in Ukraine. It's just not good for business. There are some FNC holdouts and a few fascists in Congress, but GOP politics can't sustain its marriage to the Russian Butcher. So separation and divorce isn't for moral or ideological reasons. It's all political.
Putin must be seeing the handwriting on the wall as the GOP begins to vote against Russian imperialism through supporting sanctions and other measures. He placed his bets on Trump's charisma and domestic power. Trump ran interference domestically and internationally. Now, no one wants to listen to Trump's fawning praise of Putin. Madison Cawthorn now sounds like an idiot. So does Cruz. So does DeSantis. Putin's western wing of propaganda is showing massive cracks.
