Because I know that scanning the top 10 OP's I can get a feel for what's going on.

Faster and easier than doing my usual routine of bouncing around between France 24, Reuters and Social Media.

I go to my mail usually first (habit)

While in my head it's: how is Zelenskyy; how is Ukraine; is Putin ousted (by whatever means); is TFG either in prison yet, incapacitated enough to never do any harm again, or kicked the bucket.
So I check on all of that after the mail.
All on my cellphone usually before getting out of bed. 👍

31. I sleep with a radio (NPR or BBC) or MSNBC overnight broadcast , so I frequently hear the news

while I'm not yet even starting to stir. It is close to checking on Zelensky BEFORE waking up, albeit somewhat subconsciously.

But, despite my news addiction and worry, I'm trying to take a few breaks from it at least a few hours each day.

33. I often offer an upraised middle finger (with opposite hand in elbow for emphasis) to entire GOP.

Depends on the story of course, and sometimes takes an hour or so into news cycle, watching CNN, Morning Joe and other "Librul" outlets. And Joe is not a librul but at least he is rational. Mika makes sure.
But I "pray" for Ukraine everyday and will be hanging a Ukrainian flag on my house and car as soon as they arrive. The carnage needs to stop. One person can do that, but he has no interest. War criminal. I keep hoping for Special Ops to do a Bin Laden. Most Russians would celebrate.

Glad I'm not alone in monitoring Zelensky and Ukraine.
I check headlines when I wake up.
Then I say a prayer of gratitude, and a prayer for peace.
Then I make my coffee.

Checking the weather fits in there somewhere too. Otherwise, coffee and checking on the hero of the century happens all at once. I make the the coffee first, while going through my computer opening, I sit down with my coffee and check to see if the world is still out there.

F me over. But I wake up and think of my father if I haven't already had nightmares, and other pressing matters, my kitties often come to see if mom will feed them. Usually my siamese guy first, although the new floofer rescue has been sneaking in. I check mail briefly to see what happened hoping dump and p are dead. If that day ever comes I will drink champaign and celebrate. Sometimes I just go back to sleep or read in bed depending on bg and what day it is. Actually my bg always comes before everything else. Then it is feed kitties, scoop poopies/ pees, clean up messes and finally feed myself after various other things. Green tea for me.
