A Catholic Bishop is threatening his flock with eternal damnation if they support Barack Obama and the Democrats in November.
Bishop David Ricken of the Green Bay Catholic Diocese sent out a letter to his parishioners warning that voting for Democrats and President Barack Obama this November may be a one way ticket to hell.
In the letter, dated Wednesday, October 24, Bishop Ricken claims supporting a womans right to reproductive freedom (abortion); death with dignity (euthanasia); important scientific research (stem cell research); and marriage equality for gay and lesbian citizens are all "intrinsically evil."

I guess making life more difficult for the poor is alright with Bishop Ricken.

(6,843 posts)also tell him the Bush held the House and the Senate until 2007 and NEVER even tried to outlaw abortions. They did however borrow a lot of money from China who was one of the worst human rights records including forced abortions and 7 MILLION little girls who were born, but strangely enough, are no longer here.
Fuck that noise. It is all lies. The Republicans care about money. The only use the social conservatives as their pawns.

Here are several facts which Catholics must face regarding Mitt Romney:
1. A vote for Mitt is a vote for a non-Christian. What we know as a hard fact about Mitt Romney is that he is not a Christian from the official standpoint of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church does not recognize the baptism of Mormons as valid.
2. A vote for Mitt is a vote for someone who does not believe that creation begins at conception. There is no wonder why Mitt is so weak on the Life issues. It is rooted in a bad theology, a non-Christian anthropology.

Its Time We Wake Up
(15 posts)America is getting worse. But as they say, its darkest before the dawn. As long as election fraud doesn't play a role, I think we have a good chance of seeing a new dawn. 12 million jobs in the next 4 years according to projections. That's just one of the issues heading the right way thanks to President Obama.
No time to turn back now. Irregardless of the garbage that is being dumped into the ears of conservatives.

(53,397 posts)In a stunning motion filed in an Appleton, Wisconsin court the Diocese of Green Bay has argued that bishops and religious officials who operate schools, churches, and youth centers can intentionally conceal and transfer clergy child molesters, even if found guilty of doing so by a jury.
The argument was made by lawyers for Green Bay Bishop David Ricken who are attempting to dismiss a May jury verdict which found the diocese guilty of fraud by intentionally concealing and transferring one of the states most prolific sex offender clerics, Fr. John Patrick Feeney.
Following the logic of the diocese argument, the US Constitution allows a bishop or religious official full civil immunity to secretly assign a cleric to a parish or school to work with children, even if that cleric has or is intending to commit child rape. When a bishop assigns a priest, according to the diocese, that does not mean the bishop believes the priest is safe to be around children.
And any decision a bishop makes about a cleric may not be evaluated or explained by courts because the First Amendment allows religious organizations to essentially do what they want and be accountable to no one.
In other words: According to the bishops of the Catholic Church, American religious liberty is for bishops, not children. The US Constitution does not protect children to freely worship and practice their faith from religious officials who put the protection of sex offender clerics over their safety.
And parents should never consider the priest assigned to their parish as safe. Why? Because if a bishop assigns a priest who has molested children to your parish, according to the diocese of Green Bay, he has a First Amendment right to commit fraud and lie to you about it.

He is literally the scum of the earth.

(25,250 posts)This is not only spiritual blackmail, it's the ultimate voter intimidation tactic - a cleric to threaten parishoners with eternal damnation for not voting for the bishop's preferred candidates. This bishop is far closer to hell than any woman seeking an abortion.
AFAIC, I'll rot in hell before I'll ever vote for a Republican, especially one who thinks the poor should die starved, sick, exposed to the elements, or at the hands of a criminal.
