The previous high was $4.11 on July 17, 2008, according to AAA. That would come to around $5.25 today when adjusted for inflation.

or even greater.
I think that looking back to 2008 and attaching inflation as as a singular driver is relatively meaningless when theres so many other factors at play.

of fossil fuels. Capitalism views the exploitation of natural resources as free from external environmental costs.
