LOl..found out how chimp spends his time nowadays...

Someone I know works for AFLAC (you know...that duck commmerical insurance)..and at their conference in Las Vegas last week guess who their guest speaker was...chimp!
He had a sit down with the prez of AFLAC in front of an audience. He talked about his post-prez days, how he misses being pampered, not having people waiting on him hand and foot (gasp..he has to WALK HIS DOG and do dishes).

The audience was forbidden from taking any pictures during the hour long sit down.

Apparently, the company owner has some connection to chimp and pickles because at their conference LAST year, pickles was the guest.

So this is how far he has fallen..from being Prez to insurance conferences. During an election year when you would THINK that his time would be filled going around stumping for the current repuke candidate!

Of course, it was a rather sad affair, George blurting it out as literally as elevator doors shut.

Poor George. Sure he screwed the country up, but it's got to be hard to realize that your entire life's work is repudiated and rejected even by your spiritual followers. And given his silver spoon life, it's probably the first time that he's ever not been shielded from what a failure he is. Most people learn that the can fail as small children, but whenever George failed, his dad's name or friends bailed him out. Now there's nothing that can be done to revive his reputation or to take away from the fact that his policies led to the Democrats retaking Congress and then the White House.

And then there's his famous punctuality/dress code that he enforced in a lame attempt to show what a grown up business man he was. He got to be the big honcho and make everybody play by his rules. Now that he's persona non gratis, I doubt anybody is putting up with the sort of temper tantrums he apparently used to throw. I can't imagine locking Colin Powell out of a meeting for being a couple of minutes late.

Of course I feel a lot sorrier for those of us who have had to deal with the fallout of his disastrous presidency.

I'm surprised the GOP hasn't had him locked in a closet somewhere this election season in the hope that Americans would start thinking his residency was part of our collective imagination. They know he's practically radioactive at this point, so they don't want any reminders of how got into this mess in the first place showing up in public unexpectedly.

After Ford's two years, he spent his time doing keynotes and playing celebrity pro-am golf.

Ford knew he'd be shunned for pardoning Nixon, even though in retrospect closing the book on that disaster was probably the right thing to do.

Bush, OTOH, still owes us 50 years scrubbing pots in the Leavenworth kitchen.

President or not, he's still wealthy. I'm sure they have a maid (or two).

Seems the GOP doesn't want Bush out on the trail. I wonder if that bothers him?
