ABC Evening News: Russia is stalled on all fronts !

I heard that on the TV.
They said Ukrainian troops have blocked Russian troops and the Russian troops have been stalled on all fronts.

And now I find this:

Russia ‘stalled on all fronts,’ UK military says

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has “largely stalled on all fronts,” the UK Ministry of Defence said on Thursday.

“Russian forces have made minimal progress on land, sea or air in recent days and they continue to suffer heavy losses,” the Ministry said in an update posted to Twitter.

The Ukrainian resistance “remains staunch and well-coordinated,” the update said.

“The vast majority of Ukrainian territory, including all major cities, remain in Ukrainian hands,” the Ministry said.

They aren't motivated.

The Ukrainians (civilians included) are fighting for their homeland while
humiliating an army that used to be considered a world power.

Like they might have advanced weapons, but they have so few that they can't field them in enough numbers to actually do anything. I think the corruption across the board has created an illusion of a great powerful military, but in reality most of the budget for it has been stolen and its now oligarch's yachts, villas, and (now frozen) bank accounts.

He is humiliated, frustrated, already firing senior officers, having military and economic resources rapidly drained and while China, India and others are giving tacit approval, they really aren't helping in any meaningful way. A wounded and cornered animal is a dangerous thing. I can't see him nuking a NATO nation but I could see him nuking Kyiv to try and decapitate the government and demoralize the Ukrainians. Scary scary scary!

Since they've been importing minivans and sedans into Ukraine to help move their military around, I have a feeling that a lot of their weapons haven't been maintained and probably wouldn't work if they tried to fire them.

Syria is sending in the neighborhood of 40,000 troops. I suspect they will be under-trained, ill-armed, and unprepared for the climate.

They have mercenaries coming, too. I suspect they will be improved over the Syrians, but I don't know if they will be improved over the Russian regulars.

It's totally unsustainable, though.

It sounds like poverty is driving a lot of it. It seems no one fighting on the side of the Russians, including the Russian soldiers, are really fighting for Russia.

We must hope that Putin’s own people take him out before he is allowed to order a nuclear strike. There is certainly enough historical precedent for such a move, but there a is sadly ample time for Putin to oder much more misery on the Ukrainian civilian population before he’s done.

I wonder just how he thinks he can negotiate a “neutral” Ukraine after what he did to them? For that matter, I wonder how much longer he will be tolerated as “Fearless Leader” within Russia after leading his country into this disastrous, unnecessary blunder?

We should be careful, by the way, about feeling a blanket hate toward all Russians. That would be like feeling a blanket hate toward all Americans during the Vietnam war or the Iraq invasion, or Trump’s “presidency.” There was hardly universal approval from all Americans for any if them, was there? There are a huge number of Russians bitterly opposed to Putin’s attack and invasion. One of them is my son in law. He hasn’t actually lived in Russia since he was 9 (grew up in Israel after that, even served in the Israeli military before coming to the USA). He remains a Russian, though not one that any Putin apologist should start an argument with unless their black belt has two black patches on it instead of one.
