Something extremely odd just happened. Putin was halfway through his speech. He said, By pure coincidence, the start of the special operation was on the birthday of
and then the feed suddenly cut out

But damn that is one nice stadium set up. Lots of money went into that.
I was hoping he got sick or something.

(49 posts)But, though I truly hope that Putin is relieved of command, I have this suspicion that there is, at least, a small chance that the reason he is deposed is not to end the war, but to run it better and use more hideous means to achieve whatever their end-goal is.
The question is; who would be the likely successor or savior? All I know is that the other power brokers in Russia are horrible, too.
So, when we say that we hope for his demise, we are simultaneously hoping for the existence a sane unknown figure that can realistically take power and end this war crime. Navalney seems better, but he is not in position for this.
That said, I think Putin's assassination is more likely for the purpose of ending the war. I just hope it is not for escalation.
