It's a shock to realize that I am this old. I don't feel it mentally. Physically on the other hand, I feel every single injury and sign of wear and tear I have accumulated over those years.
Let's see which iof us makes to 80 first!

Those were the days, right? As for accomplished, it's all relative. I ran into a guy in D.C. in 2006, a freshman Senator from Illinois, who REALLY accomplished some stuff. Got elected president a couple of years later, and all. Now THAT is what I call accomplished!

I hit that milestone last October. Like Simon & Garfunkel's song says, "How terribly strange to be seventy." Still feels strange to me, but like everything, I'll get used to it.

I will try to get to all posts over the weekend. My birthday (boithday in Brooklyn, berdday in Republicanese) is actually on Saturday. About half the EU will be coming by tomorrow, and we are having some freshly grilled Greek food from the best Greek place in town brought in for everyone. Just in case there were any lingering doubts about the general sentiment being expressed, my wife had this made by a local pastry shop:
I appreciate all the encouraging comments. While I can now claim with reasonable authority gained from (extremely) recent experience that 70 is NOT the new 30, I sill have to admit that I don't feel a day over 71.
