There is a current McAfee spam (phishing) email being sent out.

I've been getting three or four of them every day this week. I don't have any McAfee products installed on my PC.

If you receive anything of the sort, do not open the email and mark it as spam in your email client.

As always, do not click on any links in such email, but it's best not even to open them.

Beware of Russians bearing gifts, folks.

I was getting several every day. It took a while, but after I started automatically marking them as spam, the frequency diminished gradually. Have to say they were persistent.

I've seen them 'from' Lowes, Costco, Amazon. More spam.

Many of them use what looks like fancy fonts in the title. In reality, those are images that can't be read by spam-detecting algorithms. They're easy to spot, though, and are never legit.

McAfee generally sucks.

I got the same email MM. It was an obvious phishing scam.

I have removed McAfee from client's computers twice in the last couple of months. There was an immediate dramatic improvement in load times and general performance, so much so that both called and thanked me the next day for the dramatic difference. Both were considering buying new computers because they couldn't understand why the performance had suddenly nosedived.

In both cases it was due to a McAfee installation or a bad McAfee update.

Then there was the time that McAfee caused all AMD based computers to stop booting entirely...

several times a day. Blocking doesn't help as they use different addresses.

I'm pretty sure it's not McAfee sending them. They use a more direct approach.

I love this feature on Yahoo and would like to see it on Gmail.

I also love the magnifying glass just to the right of the sender's name. Click it and every email you have from that sender will pop up and you can delete them all at once. This is another feature I would like to see in Gmail.

Those strange fonts are really a dead giveaway though.

I have been getting these things for months, at least two per day. I used to use McAfee and I though that was why I was getting them. From some of y'alls comments I see that is not the only reason
