The only time he has sounded and appeared comfortable is in that secret video with gazillionaires.

He seems extraordinarily uncomfortable everywhere else, and these images are no exception.

Poor kids.

I'd be terrified if I thought I was going to be hurled into the audience. Note how far he keeps them away from his body, as if they were nothing but a stinky diaper.

Makes you wonder if he ever held any of his sons or just used them to train for a caber-tossing event.

You need to keep the caber close to your upper body so you can control and feel its momentum. If you don't then you can't get enough vertical force on the toss to flip it properly.

Plus if Rmoney is Scottish, I disavow his heritage, he's no true Scotsman!

Like he is in the process of giving them back! Or trying to hold them up to show them off. But no interaction with them.

It also reminds me of a duck hunter shooting at ducks from a blind. It's no wonder they're all screaming and crying. Poor babies.

When most people hold a baby - even if the baby's crying - they hold them in their arms and pull them close to their body so the baby will feel secure. Mittens holds a baby in his hands, away from his body. The fact that a father of five holds a baby that way is VERY telling!

Romney is so pitifully awkward.

And why?

In my experience, people who are so totally awkward are utterly self-involved.

When you are focused on other people, caring about other people, you are not awkward in the way that Romney is.

This awkwardness, in other words, tells us a lot about Romney's real personality and character. He is extremely self-centered. (That's what this says to us.)

The great performers, the great musicians, the great artists are those who forget themselves in their work, in their art. The same is true of lawyers, doctors, teachers, craftsmen, cooks -- every profession. To be really good at something, you have to immerse yourself in it, care about it.

A leader's job is to be immersed in the people and the projects (or nation) he leads. Romney is incapable of that immersion. He can only immerse himself in himself, in his own interests. You can see that in the expression on his face, the pained expression on his face when he deals with these babies. Babies are so easy to deal with if you quietly attend to them and nothing else.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]As everyone else has mentioned, he holds the babies in a very odd way -- away from his body and facing away from him. He's "going through the motions" required for campaigning, but doesn't really want anything to do with these kids or their families. He doesn't look at their faces or into their eyes, or otherwise interact with them in any way, and he thinks it's funny when they cry.

Our President, on the other hand, holds babies close. He looks into the eyes of each child, infants and older children. He makes faces, talks to them, encourages them to touch him, and interacts with them. He's real and connected. Willard is as phoney as phoney can be.

he even likes babies if you go by those pics.

I always say smell a babies hair and you fall in love. That's what Obama does. He hugs babies and kisses them. I have even seen pics where he smells their hair. Babies skin give off powerful pheromones that make them irresistible to adults. If you don't hold babies close to you bonding is unlikely to occur.

I also think that being attracted to babies is part of manhood. Without it you aren't quite there yet.
