Cawthorn is hated.

Cawthorn, who’s running for reelection against seven primary challengers, finds himself positively drowning in bad headlines lately:
He was charged with driving with a revoked license earlier this month in his third traffic violation, he’s come under fire from members of his own party after he went off on a deranged tirade against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a group of North Carolina voters are still trying to get him disqualified from office over his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, even after a Trump-appointed judge blocked their effort.

How favorable or unfavorable is your overall opinion of Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC)?

to get a real job where his performance is rated on actual productivity, not running off at the mouth and pulling crazy, unhinged stunts to shock people.

The people in his district deserve actual representation, not just a loudmouth fascist out to draw attention to himself.

The district loves loud mouth fascists (except for Asheville and some smaller surrounding areas).

Before too long what with his admitting he smuggled firearms to into the Capitol for the insurrection. I suspect his future doesn't include an actual job on the outside of prison walls for a time.

He'll probably still get the most votes against seven challengers, but if he has to win 50% + 1 that is a bigger hurdle and less chance of him winning the runoff.

And then running - pun intended - back to his original district once the NC Supreme Court forced a redraw and his preferred choice wasn't going to be as friendly, he ended up shooting himself in the foot.

He has spent his time in office only doing things that gain himself headlines and fame amongst the Klanbaggers around the country and not done shit for his district. For example, he was at a ceremony in his home district where he tried bragging about bringing home infrastructure money (holding a giant check for a project), and was asked by a reporter if he voted for it - and he visibly squirmed as he had to explain that he voted for this, but no, he didn't vote for the overall bill 😂. None of that has endeared himself in NC-11. Add in his district shopping and its subsequent fail and that was kinda the final straw for the voters in NC-11.

He probably would lose the primary if there was only one challenger. He is unpopular enough that he could lose in the general if he does win the primary, as the district as drawn is not as red as it was before, I think (there have been so many iterations, it's hard to keep track).

The primary is in May. It was originally scheduled for this month, but due to the court cases that were filed over the gerrymandering by the GOPQ in the NC legislature, the NC Supreme Court ordered the primary delayed until May so it could hear cases, etc.

That what I've read is that he's despised by the state pukes now with his district shopping and grandstanding. I have no idea how much he's hated by his constituents but I hope a lot!

Quoting a local professor of political science (Cooper): "The big question in Cooper’s mind is whether one of those candidates can get the 30% plus 1 votes needed to avoid a runoff. But Republicans in the district are no stranger to runoffs in congressional primaries.

“Madison Cawthorn had to go to a second primary to win in 2020 and Mark Meadows had to go to a second primary to win in 2012. So we’ve been down this road before,” Cooper said. “It’s going to be chaos.”"

I couldn't find any recent in-district polls, however.

It's an example of our loss of democracy. Cawthorn's district includes dark-blue Asheville. It's so gerrymandered though, the Democratic voters in Asheville are totally disenfranchised.

Even if Cawthorn loses the primary, some other Republican will probably win. Honestly, we have a better chance if he's the nominee instead of a supposedly "moderate" Republican.

pretty much guarantees he’ll be the candidate.

If the GOP wanted him gone they’d quietly settle on just one.

I expect the same for MTG and Bobo.
