Russian trade surplus growing, due to high oil prices.

Europe is unwillingly financing the war, so to speak.
Stay by huge amounts of oil from Russia.

Trade balance and current account balance are both imports vs exports. Shrink the denominator and yes the balance will improve - but that ignores the overall bigger picture in this particular situation.
