It may very well improve, giving the gallup numbers @7.3%, although I believe the seasonal correction works against raw number in October to some degree.

Based upon just my personal observations, economic activity seemed to have picked up dramatically since early September. I am seeing a lot of private home refurbishment in communities which appeared dead. Haven't seen many new hoes, but the refurbishment is equal to a couple of housing starts. I am also seeing road repair and government facilities projects. In addition, my grocer is always crowded and the food donation baskets are fuller than I have noticed them, so people have enough money to pay not only their own grocery bills but also donate to charity.

Sorry, I couldn't pass it and would expect the same when I screw up, which happens a lot.

As far as new home, there are 3 new homes in my neighborhood. One just starting last week.

There is very little there that might be considered Halloween-oriented, so that wasn't the draw. I also had to wait in line at the cashier. There were some good sales, however. Local restaurants have been busy, too. So there are people comfortable with spending money. Hope that bodes well for Obama.

If you wait this long and make a decision like this on one months number, then you are in need of some counseling.
