General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have started taping and watching Tucker Carlson most every day.
He approaches his show with the temperament and intellect of an insolent teenager. He is the bully in the school yard, and the liberal Democrats are the weaker kids he is bullying. It is about the power.
Last night he stated that the Russians invaded Ukraine, therefore the sanctions were a failure, and he infers that the hardships we are enduring from it aren't worth it. Of course, he is ignoring the notion that the sanctions will take time to work. Does he have the same attitude about sanctions on Iran?

(4,254 posts)He has been accused of deliberately being an agent for the Russians. I don't think that is the case. He just has to ridicule everything Biden does.

I listen to talk radio ...too much. People who arent already in that world have no idea how weird it is. Tucker does not follow the news of the day, the repetition, and goes to different levels of nuts.

(12,618 posts)You're still watching it if it's recorded. Those stats are all recorded.

(912 posts)Unless your household is a Nielson participant, I don't think your viewing is recorded at all. As far as I know, Nielson still tracks ratings using monitoring devices that you would agree to install, or paper diaries that you fill out (I've done the diaries previously, though it has been a few years).

(12,618 posts)They know exactly how many times a show has been recorded. Nielsen ratings were inaccurate even before technologies like DVR and Tivo (remember Tivo?) existed. Think of how inaccurate they would be now with the proliferation of easy recording and storage. So yeah, they've got sniffers in those boxes that monitor how often a show is recorded.

(57,780 posts)Democrats make up a large share of his audience. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tucker-carlson-secures-most-democratic-223803687.html
Do you realize more Democrats watch Carlson than Rachel Maddow?
That means your dutiful watching of Carlson helps enable him to continue spewing garbage. The Democrats who make him rich and enable him to continue to defile the national culture are a big part of the problem.
Raine
(31,237 posts)then it's not counted in the ratings.
DVR's collect more data about your viewing habits than if you were watching live. https://people.howstuffworks.com/culture-traditions/tv-and-culture/dvr-viewings-tv-ratings.htm?msclkid=7b549a12adee11ec8b5d5d9a013b2a80

(106,592 posts)There's no point in expecting consistency of argument from him; you are officially advised, by Fox, to use "an appropriate amount of skepticism" when viewing him. Since I'm sure you're not entertained by him, since you're better than that, I'd give up, if I were you.
