I've said the same thing many times. Your classic con man has some redeeming or attractive qualities and most of them are gifted and persuasive public speakers. Trump is unattractive, inarticulate, vulgar, humorless, blatantly dishonest, and stunningly stupid. The best that his supporters can come up with is, "He tells it like it is", while often acknowledging that he tells a lot of lies! He is like a bizarre cartoon character and yet millions of people see a leader.

In the past, when contemplating a dangerous, fascist leader, I would picture someone like Elmer Gantry or Martin Sheen's character in The Dead Zone - obvious frauds, but convincing and charismatic enough to sway a lot of people.

Clearly, "the neon god they made" because no one else could come up with someone like him, not even Hollywood.
