Will Smith hit somebody like it was in his own house.
The event was not his house.
Let's consider how dire things might become if, going forward, an offended audience member "X" decides that just like last year, "I'll slap the shit out of MC "Y."
X = anyone including, child stars.
and
Y= anyone including, child stars.
But, you have to admit that saying, "Keep my wife's name out your fucking mouth!" sounded just like a line from some kind of movie about a tragic self absorbed, but truly insignificant, ass.
Whatever happened to, "You like me, you really, really, like me."
Thanks, bully boy for showing everyone the Oscars are just trash.
"Come on Butterfly, it was just a luncheon, let's go home and get away from these assholes."

Every muscle bound, smart ass that Will will see in public, is going to start pushing his buttons about his wife.

(352 posts)I don't think enough has been said about Chris Rock's incredible grace under pressure. Imagine if he'd met violence with violence to prove he too is a "real man". Instead he met it with something akin to disbelief.
In my view, Chris Rock, is the one who behaved like a real man, aka a rational man in control of himself and one who does not resort to violence when someone acts like an immature asshat.
If any lesson should be taken from the debacle, it should be Chris Rock's grace under pressure before an audience of thousands. He displayed his grace even further by not capitalizing on the incident or giving it more attention. He has remained largely silent on the issue and allowed Will Smith's ridiculous action to speak for itself.
Will Smith appeared to be seriously unhinged. Will Smith crying during his acceptance speech reminded me of Kyle Rittenhouse. Crying after he belatedly regrets his hideous toxic behavior. His excuse about attributing it to love was a lame excuse for his inability to manage his emotions.

(7,343 posts)He wasnt going to press charges, because he knows everyone is dying to hear about his experience, in his next upcoming standup act.
Yes sir, Will Smith gave Chris an opening for a funny bit, and Chris is going to use it!
Thanks Will!!

(352 posts)Chris Rock is one badass dude. Anyone who says Chris Rock should have hit back has unfortunately fallen under the same toxic masculinity spell as Will Smith.
Buckeyeblue
(6,283 posts)Rock should incredible grace in that circumstance. But had he fought back, it would have been understandable. Sometimes you can't maintain composure after your physically attacked. And that's being human. It has nothing to do with toxic masculinity.

Anger management classes? That's another story.

(71,522 posts)It is not my business...Will Smith and Chris Rock have come to an understanding...no charges. Why do we think such things are our business or even matter?

(7,343 posts)Chris Rock comes off as nice compared to him.
Besides that, Will was laughing before, he thought it hurt his wifes feelings.

(71,522 posts)Chris Rock did then what Trump did when he made fun of mentally challenged people. A young girl in my daughter's school tried to commit suicide because of the kids making fun of her. for alopecia. It is not funny.
