2nd booster.
It's been 7 months since the first. If in another 5 or 6 months we're told we should be getting another, I get one then too.

(9,212 posts)I am wondering if I can get moderna this time or if I am locked into pfizer. I had a worse reaction last time so I am a bit worried though anyway and moderna is a larger dose. . But I dont want to wait until they may run out due to funding either.

(9,212 posts)We had our booster 1 at cvs and it did not give you a choice.

(589 posts)I heard a doc on TV say it was OK to change Moderna/Pfizer for the booster.
But, hey... it was just a doc on TV. Your feedback would carry more weight.

(9,212 posts)he said he knows people who have mixed and matched all the vaccines after the initial doses and he sees no problem with it and thinks it may increase protection against variants which may not be as protected against by whatever you have already received.
He also said the moderna dose for the booster is lower than for their first 2 doses so it would be less likely to have a strong reaction. So I may try to get moderna this time.
We got our pfizer dose 3 at cvs and when I made the appointments there did not seem to be a way to select a different vaccine though and you had to bring your vaccine card there to get the booster. I am going to find out if I can get moderna at that office maybe.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
