Appreciation Thread for President Joe Biden

Challenge: Add one thing that you appreciate his having done. I'll start:

In the face of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, President Biden has rallied and unified NATO nations to stand together and cooperate in sanctioning Putin, Russia, and the oligarchs, and in supplying Ukraine with defensive weapons and support.

The Republicans view the Presidency as an opportunity for self-aggrandizement, instead of service to the nation.

Joe Biden has reminded us that the President is the servant of the people. And he fills the office admirably.

foreign situations and acts on what he knows, while pundits who lack the ability or knowledge to see the big picture criticize his actions, only to see later that he was right. He does this knowing that he will be criticized and is not deterred from doing the right thing, despite critics.

But, he also listens and makes changes when it is warranted.

This takes knowledge, wisdom from experience, the ability to synthesize information, and the ability to listen to knowledgeable people in their areas of expertise.

In other words, he has the qualities of a good leader and also connects with "the people."

Kamala Harris, VP (first woman VP, first black woman of color, first woman of S. Asian descent)
Pete Buttigieg, Secy Transportation (first openly gay, same sex married)
Dr. Rachel Levine, Ass't Secy-HHS - transgender pediatrician and naval admiral
Ketanji Brown Jackson - SCOTUS nominee (first black woman appointed, only the second public defender)

And on and on.

To me, he embodies someone whose heart is tuned to service out of love (for God, for neighbor, for country), and that service includes lifting up those who have been left out of having a seat at the table.

I also appreciate how he genuinely cares about the American people, all of us, not just a minority who "comprise his base."

Much of what President Biden has been doing is moving the huge stone of 45 up the hill every day and trying at the same time to actually get other things done. It's like watching a firefighter during fire season in California go out every day and put out brush fires then have people saying, "But what else have you done?" What about all those cats in trees?

My greatest respect is in regards to Covid. He's worked to get as many people vaccinated as soon as possible and kept funding available so people can continue to survive during this horrible time.
