The political fight is no longer about Democratic versus Republican
the right is now between:
those who support Democracy versus those who would turn America into a Totalitarian State/Dictatorship. In this contest, the Democratic Party is pro-Democracy and the Republicans are pro-dictatorship (destroy America). Republicans seem to work for foreign enemies and are supported by fox (traitor) news and the traitor murdochs, and other totalitarians like the koch's. Segments of right-wind religious fanatics also want to destroy America and Democracy. Anyone voting republican needs to understand they are voting to destroy democracy and to support mass killers like putin. Anyone not voting for the Democratic Party should be honest and admit they hate America. This is no longer about taxes, free markets or capitalism. This is about Democracy versus totalitarianism.

1. I've suggested before, we should a brand name to our party: "the democracy party"
The Republican Party also calls themselves the gop, so we can have another name too.

9. Agreed. That's a compelling name and succinctly conveys the truth.
And it would counter the Gingrichian smear that the corporate media sometimes uses “the Democrat Party”

Last edited Tue Apr 5, 2022, 11:46 PM - Edit history (2) ….Rethuglican Chairman who used it against our party under Truman in the 40s. (You had to love Harry’s classic suggested response then: he said they ought to be called the “publican” party as they are run by the type of corrupt people Jesus castigated in the gospels-the publicans.)
Other right wing demagogues and would be Trumps like McCarthy picked up on it mid century. (This is why it was no surprise that the orange nightmare itself, Agent Orange, who fellates Roy Cohn with unbounded adulation, routinely uses the term in his foul utterances.) However, the cretin that did the most to weaponize it was Newt(droppings) as he in conjunction with his Rasputinesque pollster Frank Luntz DELIBERATELY encouraged his “contract hitpeople on America” to use it every time they talked to the media about the Democratic Party, or a Democratic officeholder in the early 90s. And, following his vile lead, other fascist mouthpieces like Limbaugh, the goosestepping wannabes on Faux News, and bottom feeding internet fascist troll farms adopted this practice and still slaveringly follow it. So, in my view, Gingrich is the most responsible for its present status as a popular derisionary slur by the right wing which should be called out as such any time a corporate media talking head parrots it, either deliberately or unthinkingly. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2006/08/07/the-ic-factor https://www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2006/12/dissing-the-democratic-party.html |

3. Many of our "opponents" characterize the Democrats as
the authoritarian ones, mandating vaccines, sex education and electric cars.
They see the push for the acceptance of all cultures and orientations as a totalitarian move from the left, endangering the very fabric of the culture they know. So I think “democracy vs totalitarianism” is still too simple a way to describe what’s happening with the political economy of today. |

It is a complex discussion to have. Americans are not very good at nuance and complication.
It is about what specific societal goals are set and why they should be pursued. |

4. GOP voters are fine with a dictatorship if it gives them white christian minority rule.
The GOP gets total permanent power and access to all US assets.
They give their racist base permanent male white minority rule. |

5. Among people born, some are ...
Among people born, some are evolving and others devolving, karmic-ly.
The sides can be measured on a scale of morality, but that is actually the macro-level to the micro-problem of selfish souls. This problem is rooted in individuals and manifested as desires; the desire to be 'right' trumps the desire to do right. When one's identity can never be wrong, complex explanations and conspiracies are needed to coverup, explain and deny the self-known fact of being wrong. My preferred labels are "progressive" and "regressive". |

18. Bingo.
I've been calling them "Regressives" for ages, now. "Conservative" implies trying to maintain the status quo, keeping what you've got, etc. These assholes want to go back in time.
If you want to go forward, you put the car in D. You put it in R to go in reverse. For the last 40 years, every time we've been in R, we've definitely gone in reverse. |

6. All that the Republicans want it freedom!
Freedom to control every aspect of your life, from conception to grave. Well, that and keeping people of color in their rightful places, which generally means out of sight and in chains.
Republicans really seem to believe that the only way to Make America Great Again is to destroy any social progress made in the last 100 years. Turn the clock back on women's rights, return to Jim Crow, and to bring Jesus into every home (under gunpoint if necessary.) They hate us for what we have done to them... and many of them are perfectly willing to kill you for it. It is the patriotic thing to do. |

12. You can always shorten their name to Publican.
If they ask, use the Biblical definition.
publican pŭb′lĭ-kən noun The keeper of a public house or tavern. A collector of public taxes or tolls in the ancient Roman Empire. A collector of taxes or tribute from the public. |

14. You are talking about voting.
It’s the economy.
Walk up to a Republican and say “you are voting to destroy democracy and to support mass killers like putin.“ After your done telling one that they then go fill up their vehicle and get groceries. What you end up with in that situation is someone you just called a killer who still thinks it’s all Biden’s fault. I agree with you that we are currently waging war against fascist tendencies. But it’s the economy or we lose. |

If the Repukes take away our ability to vote, it's all over. The economy won't matter, because there will no longer be a USA.
We must always get out the vote. AND we must always elect as many Democrats as possible. Every election matters. ![]() ![]() |

20. Still Republicans vs. Democrats
The only difference between now vs. 15 years ago is that the respectable facade has been sloughed away from the rancid heart of the beast and the foul stench of the thing released. We’re just more able to see them as they’ve always been. Die sind alle so. They’re Republicans. When we start to think of them as something else, as something particularly obscene and scurrilous, we implicitly offer them an out, an avenue for rehabilitating the GOP. They’ll say oh it wasn’t us, the true Republicans, it was them over there, the Trumpanzees, the enemies of us. And then they regroup and build their next assault on democracy. In reality it truly is Democrats vs. Republicans, and the GOP must be razed and the ground it stood on (unfettered me-first capitalism) must be salted and salted again.

22. Wondering
When the United States was created, the Declaration of Independence was written and the Constitution of the U.S. was conceived, there was ample evidence that the founding fathers had a free country in mind.
Many of the people intent on destroying the democracy we have birthed, nurtured, adapted, and protected were born in this country, in this democracy. They have ALWAYS been free to leave. There was a bumper sticker in the 60s, which was probably displayed by the same mentalities that are magats in this era: America-Love it or Leave it! If there is a difference in mentality, it is splitting hairs. The people in the 1960's hated anti-war hippie freaks, supported the NRA, and were racists, but they 'loved' America and anyone who protested government policies could get the hell out. Right now, the magats hate everyone who isn't a magat, and probably hate anyone who isn't a white, obese male, but realize that the objects of their hatred, who are probably more 'American' in their little fingers than the magats are in several inbred generations, aren't leaving the best country on the planet. In their tiny pea brains, the magats know they are living on a gravy train, but they'd rather derail the whole thing than allow the ------------, the ------------- or the ------- to get on for the ride. |
