Murderers covering their tracks: Russian mobile crematoriums start working in Mariupol

"Murderers covering their tracks. Russian mobile crematoriums have started working in Mariupol. After the wide international coverage of the genocide in Bucha, the top leadership of the Russian Federation ordered to eliminate any evidence of crimes of its army in Mariupol," the Mariupol City Council posted on Telegram.

As noted, a week ago, cautious estimates indicated the deaths of 5,000 civilians in Mariupol. But given the size of the city, catastrophic destruction, the duration of the blockade, and fierce resistance, tens of thousands Mariupol civilians could fall victim to the occupiers.

"That is why Russia is in no hurry to give the green light to the Turkish mission and other initiatives to save and fully evacuate Mariupol. In addition, they [Russians] are trying to identify all potential witnesses of the occupiers' atrocities through filtration camps and eliminate them,” the City Council stressed.

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko stressed that the world had not seen the scale of the tragedy in Mariupol since the existence of Nazi concentration camps.

"The Russcists have turned our entire city into a death camp. Unfortunately, the eerie analogy receives increasing confirmation. This is no longer Chechnya or Aleppo. This is the new Auschwitz and Majdanek. The world must help punish Putin's villains," the mayor underscored.

this has been reported from day 1. their purpose could only be evil. either to disappear their own war dead or cover up their war crimes.

i think they're worth the powder to blow them up.

eta- i wonder where they will get the fuel to run these. anyone know what they run on?

probably more than a regular crematorium, since it's not as insulated.

There is no question that Russian logistics suck. If they can't move fuel for combat vehicles, they probably can't move fuel for mobile crematoria. I keep thinking that Putin will fire (or worse) his logisticians and put a reasonably competent NCO in charge.

The real purpose for those mobile crematoriums which (if these reports are accurate) indicate premeditation to commit widespread slaughter.

Not even Putin can erase the memories of mothers and wives and/or other family members when sons and husbands fail to return home. Plus reports have it that the Russian forces have been leaving their dead on the field and, as you stated, rumors are ripe about the wounded being finished off by their compatriots.

If the number of Russian losses in this war are correct, there will be a tipping point when the Russian population takes notice. That happened during the Chechen war, the Mothers of Russia campaign. Reportedly, Putin wants to avoid a repeat of that resistance. Disappearing bodies won't cut it.

It's hideous, all of it.

Wonder how many people they talked into going to Russia (filtration camps) to escape the fighting in UKR?
And how many have they killed because they refused to be reeducated? Just like the Nazis.....

Not a particularly nice phrase after the Nazis got done with it. Makes me wonder if the Chinese Communist Party uses something similar on the Uighurs and the "re-education camps" that they get shoved into.

Fascists/dictators. Regardless of where they are in the world, China, Russia, or here, they're all the same: If you don't think like we do, you're the enemy and must be crushed/eliminated.

I don't doubt some are cremated, probably very crudely. Anything mobile would be too small and inefficient. I would imagine the traumatized Ukrainians coming out of villages around Mariupol didn't know what they were looking at.

The report that many civilians are being buried in trenches in the green spaces of their apartment buildings is more credible.

Dead bodies must be disposed of, especially in mass casualty conditions like war, famine, and disease. It's a sanitation necessity.

Such units would only handle one body at a time and given the length it takes to cremate someone, would not be useful for mass civiliab deaths. For those, they are piled with something flammable and doused with gasoline, something that will reduce them to bone but will likely leave retrievable DNA.

What I would dispute is the idea Russians will try to cover anything up. This is who they are and this is what they do when they're given weapons and lied into a war and the only people they see to shoot at are civilians.

if you are dug into a position nearby. It was their own sanitation they were concerned about. The only reason for the bodies in the street is that they were pulling out, not their problem any more.

Anyone who has ever smelled death like that up close will never forget it.
