Amir Locke killing: Prosecutors won't file charges against Minneapolis cop

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2022/04/06/amir-locke-prosecutors-decline-charges-against-minneapolis-cop

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman are expected to brief reporters at 11 a.m.

The Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed Amir Locke in February will not face criminal charges, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said Wednesday.

In a joint statement, the prosecutors cited “insufficient admissible evidence to file criminal charges” against officer Mark Hanneman under the state’s use-of-deadly-force statute.

“He should be alive today, and his death is a tragedy,” Freeman and Ellison said in the statement. “Amir Locke is a victim.”

A brief body camera excerpt released by the city after the shooting showed officers opening the door of the apartment where the 22-year-old Locke was staying. Officers did not knock before entering. With the door open, they can be heard shouting “police” and “search warrant.”

Not the person with the actual gun who pulls the actual trigger? Huh. WhiskeyGrinder Apr 2022 #3
If they are just doing what they are ordered to do, probably not. Although should be investigated. Hoyt Apr 2022 #4

Ridiculous decision. Stop with the f---king breaking down the doors to serve warrants crap. If you are worried about safety, bring ballistic shields. Also try to show up when people are actually awake.

These are SWAT peoople that probably aren't even told much about the crime. They are serving a warrant that they have a right to believe is proper. Again, the MFers who issue these warrants without proper thought, are the ones who should face blame.

They served three no knock warrants at one time thus guaranteeing they were going to violate the civil rights of two households (just didn't know which one).
