Set up the S300 systems between an airfield russia is using and a likely target.
Have them fully set-up, but the radars inactive.
NATO surveillance aircraft loiter close enough to have coverage ahead of and over the S300's location.
When a Russian strike enters range, we tell the Ukrainians to activate that battery. Russia gets almost no warning and the Russian jets get engaged at optimal range, rather than the battery's radar warning them early and forcing the missiles to be launched at longer range.

(30,613 posts)I think Ukraine is already adept at operating in a similar way. I read that they wait until they see Russian drones in the air, then launch their own drones, knowing Russia has to turn off their jammers to fly drones.
