Why is that?

(12,684 posts)They want someone who is like them, someone who they feel they can sit at a table or a bar with, share a drink and a laugh with.
Democrats tend to vote for someone who can accomplish what they want accomplished.
They both risk falling for populists who tell them what they want to hear rather someone who has actual experience and credentials in the work surrounding the politics, though.
Republicans just tend to fall into that trap more often.

(24,679 posts)Too much importance to the idea of "us" and not "us and them". Republican voters win with Democrats in control and lose when Republicans in control....just like us. Has always been the case.
