After Imran Khan's ouster no PM has served a full 5-year term in Pakistan

According to Euro News: No prime minister has completed a full five-year tenure in Pakistan’s 75-year history
Pakistan has had 29 prime ministers since 1947 – one of whom was PM twice in the same year
On 18 occasions, they have been removed on different pretexts, including corruption charges, direct military coups and forced resignations due to infighting in ruling groups. There was one assassination.
In 1993, they had five different PMs
The shortest rule was two weeks (Noorul Amin), the longest four years and two months

Pakistan's Prime Ministers
Liaquat Ali Khan. Pakistan’s first prime minister. Took office in August 1947 - assassinated on Oct. 16, 1951. 4 years and 2 months

Khawaja Nazimuddin. Oct. 17, 1951 - dismissed on April 17, 1953, by the country’s governor general. 1 year and 6 months

Muhammad Ali Bogra. April 17, 1953 - Resigned on Aug. 11, 1955. Two years and 5 months

Chaudhri Mohammad Ali. August 1955 - Sept. 12, 1956, ousted by the ruling party. 1 year and 1 month


Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy. Sept. 12, 1956 - Oct. 18, 1957, forced from office. 1 year and 1 month.

Ibrahim Ismail Chundrigar. October 1957 - Dec. 16, 1957, Resigned,faced with a no-confidence vote in parliament. 2 months

Malik Feroz Khan Noon. Dec. 16, 1957 - Oct. 7, 1958, Martial Law declared. About 10 months.

Noorul Amin. Dec. 7, 1971 - Left office on Dec. 20, 1971, after the secession of Bangladesh from Pakistan. Less than 2 weeks

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Aug. 14, 1973 - July 5, 1977, was overthrown by a military coup, jailed and executed. 3 years 11 months

Muhammad Khan Junejo. March 1985 - May 29, 1988, dismissed by the military chief who was also the president. 3 years and 2 months

Benazir Bhutto. Dec. 2, 1988 - Aug. 6, 1990. Dismissed on charges of corruption. 1 year and 8 months.

Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Nov. 6, 1990. His government was also dismissed by the president on similar charges to Bhutto on April 18, 1993. Was able to get the decision overturned by the courts a few weeks later and returned to office, but resigned again after differences with the military. 2 years and 7 months.

Benazir Bhutto. Oct. 19, 1993 - Nov. 5, 1996. Dismissed by President. 3 years.

Nawaz Sharif. Feb. 17, 1997 - Oct. 12, 1999. Ousted by coup. 2 years and 8 months.

Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. November 2002 - June 26, 2004. Resigned due to differences with the military. 1 year and 7 months

Yousaf Raza Gilani. March 25, 2008 - April 2012. disqualified by the Supreme Court on charges of “contempt of court”. 4 years and 1 month.

Nawaz Sharif. June 5, 2013 - July 28, 2017. Dismissed by Supreme Court for hiding assets. 4 years and 2 months.

Imran Khan. Aug. 18, 2018 - April 10, 2022.

*** There were caretaker governments, not listed, that took over for ousted governments, which is why there are dates unaccounted for***

Heard some complaints on DU after I remarked yesterday.

He was supposed to be the "new face" of Pakistan...Oh well...
