The New Jersey Coastal County with the highest covid death rate in the state.

Ocean County, a coastal region in central New Jersey, is home to some of the state’s most exclusive waterfront communities and its fastest-growing town, Lakewood.

A Republican bastion in a state controlled by Democrats, the county is largely suburban, encompassing more land than all but one other county in New Jersey.

Now, as the United States begins to chart a path through a third year of the pandemic, Ocean County also illustrates a stubborn public health challenge: A large share of its residents have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus, and its Covid-19 death rate is the highest in the state.

The county has recorded 459 virus-related deaths for every 100,000 residents, state data show. This outpaces fatality levels in every other county in New Jersey, an affluent, well-educated and densely populated state still struggling to limit its virus death rate. New Jersey has the sixth-highest fatality rate from Covid in the United States, behind Mississippi, Arizona, Alabama, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Bunch of morons! And dangerous. A democrat won a local seat, because everyone likes him, he does a lot to help people and businesses in town, and he’s just an all around nice guy. It wasn’t until the votes were counted and announced that they read beyond his first name and saw the (D). F-ers burned his house down that night! He lived down the street from me. He did not rebuild. He had a farm but subdivided into several acre plots. He also switched to (R) for the sake of self-preservation.
I’m often the only one wearing a mask if I go out, and I rarely do because these MAGA zombies still think it’s a hoax. I get side glances but have only once gotten a comment and I shamed the guy into silence. A guy I once dated sent me a text two weeks ago: “Covid is over, my friend. It’s endemic.” I’m known around town as being “The Nicest Person in Town,” but my reply was, “I realize that word has the tiny word “end” in it, but that’s not what the big grownup word means.” Which wasn’t very nice but I did manage to not add “you moron,” which my brain was thinking, and I think I deserve some credit for that bit of self-control. I look around and think I’m never going to be able to leave the house again. And now I see our numbers are worse than Florida??
God, these people are stupid, racist, selfish, traitors!

My sister’s in-laws are from Ocean and I work with people from Ocean. I had no idea about these statistics, but not surprised. I have a co-worker who dreads family occasions because they refuse to wear masks (she always does)
