(206,157 posts)In Putin's fantasy recreation of the USSR. I visited Soviet Georgia back in the day and the hate towards Russia was strong. I was baffled to see statues of Stalin there, so I asked - and I was told that Stalin was Georgian, not Russian, and he was still honored in Georgia because "he killed so many Russians..."

(7,286 posts)was attacked. Literally we were in both major national events simultaneously.
We can't even deal with crushing a coup or an insurrection attempt/attack on our own nation's capitol before damage was done, nor bring the perps to justice in a timely matter, like arrested on the spot.
Not saying we didn't care, just that other major events occupied our concerns at the time.
As I recall.
