🚨🚨🚨Well folks, democracy is dead in TN. We just had the TISA school funding bill, an ALEC bill, in Gov Ops. The bill totally remakes funding for one million students and thousands of teachers. The DOE gave testimony and a few of us got to ask a couple questions.

I was gaveled down for giving “my opinion” on Charter schools. I said they had dismal outcomes. So I gave them the numbers, 38% in bottom 5% and 77% in bottom 10%. Only 4% do better than 20%. Dismal is real. This bill is a vehicle to send 💰 💰💰for charters and vouchers.

Charter Schools are simply public private schools... Claire Oh Nette Apr 2022 #1
It's Tennessee. What they want are subsidized state religious schools. Yoyoyo77 Apr 2022 #2

The Charter Schools choose their students. Don't kid yourself.

The data she cites would get a public school put under state control.

Kind of shows that those parents moving their public money to private corporations don't really care about test scores, just about keeping the brown and the Black away from their lily white kids.

YMMV

Crazy Christofacists.

"Christofascism refers to use of the faith of Chritianity as a cover for totalitarian ideology. This radical phenomenon is embodied among American Christians today in the various Militia movements, White Supremacist, and Christian Identity movements, and where these radical, armed, and Christian racist groups overlap with the Pro-Life movement and the right wing of the American political landscape, including the fringes of the Republican party."

"fringes of the Republican party"??
Don't think so.

Have owned property there for many yrs and plan to move back. Yet, we keep wondering how the heck we'll tolerate it. Those E-TN mtns just keep calling us back. At least we have a few sane friends there.
