My guess is that it was a pretty weak story to begin with.

The conspiracy pushers got their stories mixed up, probably due to COVID fog.
Hunter Biden's laptop was so 2020. The current BS is about mistakes on his tax returns from 2016 on, supposedly because he got positions in foreign corporations due to being Veep's son as well as a middling talent executive manager/consultant type.
Gym Jordan says it's Billions he got, far more than Kushner and three of TFG's spawn -who were holding Government positions - got combined during TFG's time in office.
Billions! Not the couple hundred thousands, as indicated on the tax returns that Hunter Biden paid.
Unlike TFG and his family of crooks.

Anyway, tax issues just aren't as sexy as three mysterious laptops with all sorts of weird, unsavory stuff on them dropped off at a repair kiosk all the way across the country from where the alleged owner was actually recorded as being that day.

22. The laptop story...

..has never made sense to me. For one thing, how and why were Hunter's emails on the hard drive? I understand there are ways to save emails to a hard drive but why would you do it? And why would a smart guy like Hunter put sensitive information in an email to begin with? And why would a smart guy like Hunter give a computer with sensitive info on it to a neighborhood computer service guy?

And as I understand things, the original laptop story came from the New York Post which is a Murdoch owned tabloid with questionable credibility.

In October, the New York Post published copies of "smoking gun" emails it claimed were recovered from a laptop that belonged to Hunter Biden.

It alleged that the emails revealed Joe Biden — the vice president at the time of the emails, a candidate at the time they were published, and now the president-elect — had been compromised by his son's business ties in Ukraine.

The source of the laptop that purportedly contained the emails was a computer repairman from Wilmington, Delaware.

Claimed? Purportedly?

And if Hunter did something illegal and the FBI has the laptop data to prove it, why isn't Hunter in jail?

The entire laptop story appears to be a non-story same as the rigged election story. Propaganda.
